Data Fair Use

We encourage the download and use of these data. We also encourage your feedback if you have questions or comments on the dataset, including issues with data quality. The following paragraph on data use is taken from the LBA-ECO website (http://www.lbaeco.org/lbaeco/data/data_use.htm) - you can find more information on the LBA-ECO data policy there.

"Where data are used for modeling or integrating studies, the scientist collecting the data will be credited appropriately, either by co-authorship or by citation. The data collectors should be informed of publication plans well in advance of submission of a paper, given an opportunity to read the manuscript, and be offered co-authorship. In cases where data from other investigators are a minor contribution to a paper, the data should be referenced by a citation. Users of the data will always have to state the source of the data."

Data Sets

Meteorology

Km 83 Meteorological and Flux Data (July 1, 2000-Mar 11, 2004, ~9 MBytes, posted September 12, 2007)
This data file includes over 3.5 years of measured and calculated quantities at the km 83 tower site (July 2000-March 2004). The variables relate to meteorology, soil moisture, fluxes of momentum, heat, water vapor, and carbon dioxide, including the storage of carbon dioxide in the air column beneath the flux sensors. The data are not gap-filled. Net ecosystem exchange has been filtered for calm nighttime periods. Compared to previous versions of these data, this file has been more rigorously quality checked.

Km 83 Gap-Filled Data (July 1, 2000-Mar 11, 2004, ~23 MBytes, posted September 12, 2007)
Atmospheric carbon dioxide profiles measured at 12 levels between 10cm and 64 m at km 83 logged tower site in Tapajos National Forest. Data were collected over 3.5 years between July 2000-March 2004.

Km 83 Gap Tower Meteorology and Flux Data (xx, 2001-xx, 200x, ~xx MBytes, posted June 2007)
Half-hourly meteorologcial and flux data from the tower that was installed in a large gap created by the logging and used to store cut boles (see Miller et al. 2007). xx columns, including air temperature, wind speed, sensible heat flux, latent heat flux, friction velocity, CO2 concentration, turbulent co2 flux, co2 storage. Also includes CO2 and H2O profiles at 12 levels between 0.1 and 64 meters.

Biometric Survey Data

Km 83 March 2000 Biometric Survey
Measurements of DBH for trees over 35 cm in 18 ha block (300 m N-S, 600 m E-W) east of the eddy flux tower.

Leaf Litter Data

Km 83 Leaf Litter (LAI) Data
Measurements of LAI using leaf litter data in 18 ha block (300 m N-S, 600 m E-W) east of the eddy flux tower.

Dendrometer Data

Km 83 Dendrometer Data
Dendrometer measurements in 18 ha block (300 m N-S, 600 m E-W) east of the eddy flux tower, beginning in July 2000.

Post-Logging Gap Map

Km 83 Gap Map
Map of gaps created by selective logging between September and December 2001 at Tapajos National Forest, km 83. Map includes18 ha block (300 m N-S, 600 m E-W) east of the eddy flux tower.

Soil Respiration Chamber Data

Km 83 Soil Respiration Chamber Data
15 automated soil respiration chambers were installed in August 2001 in an intact area of forest at Tapajos National Forest, km 83. In February 2002, following selective logging, 5 of the chambers were relocated to forest gaps opened up by the logging. All of the chambers are located east of the eddy flux tower.

Leaf Level Photosynthesis and Respiration Data

Km 83 Leaf Level Photosynthesis and Respiration, and Soil Repsiration Measurements
Measurements of leaf photosynthesis and respiration and soil respiration using the LI6200 during Summer 2001 in 18 ha block (300 m N-S, 600 m E-W) east of the eddy flux tower.
